MEDIA FORUM PARTICIPANT ROMAN TITORENKO: “WE COMPILE THE FUTURE!”

    -  Roman, it seems, you study to be a mathematician. How did you come to journalism?

    -  That is true; my future profession is related to mathematical modeling, analytics and other things that are “horrible” at first sight. However, Kazan Federal University, where I study, is the largest higher education institution in the region, and here you can find plenty of variants to use your potential. That is why I chose media direction as an extra-curricular activity.  Today I am a chief editor of one of the largest student mass media organization in the republic – “Include” magazine. In 2013 our team became a prize winner of our republican award “Student of the Year in Tatarstan” in nomination “Student mass media organization of the year”. Recently we have received two prize diplomas of the contest “Crystal arrow” (“Khrustalnaya strela”). Here we had a good luck in nominations “Innovators among us” and “Best editor of student printed media”.  Moreover, at the end of 2013 I received an award fee “KFU Student of the Year” in nomination “Best mass media coverage”, and now I combine my extra-curricular activity with my work concerning media projects realization of the largest youth organization in the republic – “Tatarstan Student League”. In particular, our republican “Student Spring Festival” has recently come to its end. There I organized “Journalism” direction.  As to my principles, I will not be blamed if I use a common motto of the project represented by me: “We compile the future!”

   -   Tell us about your delegation. What interesting aspects are in your program? How are you going to present your region?

   -   Tatarstan is known all over the country because of the finished “Russian Student Spring Festival”, where our team took the first place in the teams event, so it’s high time to show our worth on the international arena. This time it was decided to place our best on sports and media spheres – those directions that had been developed rapidly during the preparation period of Universiade -2013.  I think all members of our delegation are remarkable people, but, of course, much depends on our delegation head - Nestan Chitaya.

   -   Why did you decide to participate in “SCO Student Spring Festival”? What does the festival mean for you? What are your expectations concerning the festival?

   -   As far as I remember, this project will be held for the first time, so it is always interesting to see the result of organizers’ work. Besides, it’s a good chance to study media sphere structure of other countries.  Moreover, Asian countries will participate in the festival, and there are some differences between mass media coverage there and the European countries.

   -   How are you going to surprise guests of “Student Spring Festival”? How do you think what they will memorize after your program?

   -   Work of journalists is not usually visible, but it is journalists who create general impression about the festival for those people who were no able to come here under certain circumstances. But “Student Spring Festival of the SCO countries” is one of the most expected events of the year. So, probably, we are going to surprise by creative materials after the active part of the festival.
